Tanner Martin, a 35-year-old from Provo, Utah, passed away after a brave five-year battle with colorectal cancer. Diagnosed at the age of 30, Tanner fought fiercely against the disease, sharing his journey with his family, friends, and a supportive online community.

In May 2025, Tanner had the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream when he met his newborn daughter, AmyLou, born via C-section on May 15. Despite his declining health, Tanner was able to hold his daughter and share a memorable father-daughter dance, a bittersweet moment in the face of his worsening condition. Tragically, Tanner’s health took a sharp decline shortly after this emotional moment.

Tanner, along with his wife Shay, chronicled their experiences on social media, offering a window into their lives and building a community of support. In an act of love and reflection, the couple also held a “living funeral” to celebrate Tanner’s life with those who mattered most.

Tanner’s passing has drawn attention to the increasing rate of colorectal cancer in younger adults, particularly in Native American communities. His story has inspired many to prioritize their health and cherish their time with loved ones.

Tanner is survived by his wife, Shay, and their daughter, AmyLou. His legacy lives on as a symbol of strength, resilience, and the power of love in the face of adversity.
